The life of a construction crane operator

What’s it like to be a crane operator and make your living high above a construction site? The Oregonian features a profile of a crane operator who works on Portland’s South Waterfront.

Working a construction crane can seem like a giant video game, using joysticks to move the crane and pick up loads, but it is not for the weak-hearted or those fearful of heights. While crane operators love the adrenalin rush that comes with a high-stakes job, crane cabs can be uncomfortable when buffeted by winds and hot or cold weather.

Could you handle the being a crane operator? Do you work as one already? Tell us your story and leave a comment.
