Equipment rentals keep businesses working in a tough market

Heavy equipment sales are tougher than ever. New housing and other construction are slowing, and along with it sales of dozers, backhoes and other equipment.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, more businesses are renting equipment instead of buying, with over 35% of demand for heavy equipment filled using rentals.

Renting heavy equipment, such as boom cranes, make more sense for construction companies and contractors. Companies save by renting instead of spending a large sum to purchase heavy equipment for specialized jobs.

Generators are a hot item for equipment rentals. Some booming areas of the country need more electricity than utilities can currently supply. Renting a generator brings much needed electricity quickly.

Are you using rented equipment to keep your business working? Have any advice or stories? Post a comment and let us know.
