Heavy equipment picks up the pieces after disaster

Over a year after the Gulf Coast was devastated by Hurricane Katrina, roads and other infrastructure are just now being repaired. The job ahead is massive, but the contractors and machines working on the job are determined to get it done.

ForConstructionPros.com features a story on how the progress is going, along with remarkable photos of the work being done.

The story also focuses on the damage to The Bay St. Louis Bridge, part of Highway 90 in Mississippi. Large parts of the bridge were flipped over by the raging storm, isolating local residents and leaving a tricky repair job.

Despite the harsh conditions after the storm, repair crews were able to get to work putting structures and lives back together.
