Nationwide ID card for truckers coming soon?

Do you have that “I got up on the wrong side of the cab” look on your driver’s license? You might get a second chance to put on a happy face for a new ID picture.

Mlive.com reports on how a new ID card may be used to secure U.S ports and created a nationwide database of authorized truck drivers. The Transportation Security Administration’s program would clear drivers and workers to have secure access to ports and other facilities. The new ID card does not exist yet, but the process of gaining comments from members of the transportation industry is getting started. Could new federal regulations be far behind?

This could be another line of defense in keeping port facilities safe and yet another chance to have an embarrassing wallet-sized picture of yourself laminated.
