Fuel cells for trucks coming soon?

Fuel cell technology sounds like one of the futuristic gizmos we were supposed to get along with flying cars and robot butlers: a power source that produces cheap and clean power with no pollution.

Fuel cells may one day be used to power everything from laptop computers to automobiles. It might be a while off before truckers are driving fuel cell trucks, but a glimpse of that future might be coming in the form of a new cooling and heating system for trucks being developed by Modine Manufacturing Company.

If successful, this new system for diesel trucks could provide 10 hours of heating/cooling power, reduce operating costs for truckers, and produce nothing else but heat, water, and nitrogen.

Thankfully, the robot replacement truck driver is not in development…yet.
